Cosmetic Surgeries and Why We Get Them

untitled

There are hundreds of different kinds of cosmetic surgeries out there, especially when it comes to looks. However, many people use them to correct anomalies that they were born with or came about because of injury.

Rhinoplasty

Aside from the looks aspect, the main reason to get a rhinoplasty is to clear the airways and repair your nose. Whether in an accident or in a boxing match, there are hundreds of thousands of people who get their noses broken each year. Many times this causes difficulty breathing, as well as the toll it takes on their looks. It’s a pretty simple surgery, especially if the injuries are more superficial. If you’re just getting a nose job because you want a smaller nose, it may take a bit more planning, since you have a certain look in mind before you go in. You’re actively changing the way your facial structure looks as opposed to simply correcting it back to the way it was in the past.

Blepharoplasty

Although this word seems to be a head-scratcher, it simply means a surgery on your eyelids. In the vast majority of cases, this is done to older women who don’t like that their eyelids have started appearing more saggy. It may be something we don’t think about very often, but our eyelids change a lot as we get older and correcting them can make a huge difference in the appearance category.

Mentoplasty

A mentoplasty is a surgery involving your chin. There are some genetic and developmental abnormalities that can be fixed by getting a mentoplasty. The asymmetry of the face is usually another reason why someone might opt for this type of surgery. Another reason that is becoming more and more common is getting chin shaping as part of a gender reassignment surgery, where the chin is sculpted into a more feminine version, since men typically have stronger jawlines.
